Introducing Bungalow in a Box

A Temporary Home, Delivered To Your Doorstep

When you can’t leave home during repairs, we bring a home to you. Rapid Relocate’s new Bungalow in a Box is a fully-equipped, two-bedroom folding bungalow available for hire exclusively through us, ready to install on your own property while restoration works are completed.

The Idea: Thinking Outside The Box

We pride ourselves on forward-thinking solutions and a genuine commitment to going beyond the expected. That’s why we’re delighted to introduce Bungalow in a Box (BIAB).

A smart alternative accommodation solution available to hire exclusively through Rapid Relocate, BIAB is designed for customers displaced from their homes when traditional relocation simply isn’t practical. In partnership with PrefabX, we’re offering the two-bedroom Flip Classic bungalow: a comfortable, high-quality temporary home that can be installed quickly and efficiently while repairs or reinstatement works are completed.

BIAB is particularly suited to complex claims, scenarios where traditional accommodation options are unsuitable, unavailable, or where customers simply cannot leave their property. Installed directly on the customer’s own land, the bungalow enables them to remain safely onsite while works are completed, helping them maintain their routines and minimise disruption during what is already a challenging time.

What You Get: A Smarter Temporary Home

The BIAB is a beautifully designed two-bedroom bungalow. It arrives prefabricated and folds out on-site. Once placed, our expert installers ensure all joints are sealed and the bungalow is fully water tight, connect the water and electricity, before the keys are handed over. Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is planning permission required, and do you carry out a site inspection beforehand?

Planning permission is not required when the bungalow is used as temporary accommodation at your own home. A full site inspection is carried out before installation to confirm suitability, access, and the best positioning for the bungalow.

  • What utilities does the bungalow need, and who connects the water and electricity?

The bungalow connects directly to existing on-site water and electricity supplies. Each unit is pre-wired with its own fuse board and includes two wastewater outlets: one for toilet waste and one for non-toilet wastewater. Qualified electricians connect the power supply using armoured cables, and all utility connections are completed before the keys are handed over.

  • Where can the bungalow be installed?

It can be installed on both grass and hard surfaces, including driveways and gardens, and positioned at the front, side, or rear of a property. We recommend at least 1 metre of access space around the full perimeter. The bungalow can also be installed on someone else’s property or land if full written permission is given from the land or property owner.

  • Is the bungalow fully insulated and durable enough for year-round use and bad weather?

Yes. The bungalows are fully insulated and designed for comfortable, year-round living in all UK weather conditions. They are built using high-quality materials and comply with all relevant UK regulations, ensuring strong durability and resilience in a wide range of weather situations.

  • Is the bungalow suitable for a wheelchair user?

Unfortunately, the BIAB is not suitable for wheelchair users, and cannot be adapted. As the bungalows are prefabricated and manufactured with standard door frames and layouts, they cannot be modified to provide full wheelchair accessibility. However, where appropriate, features such as handrails and grab rails can be installed to support residents with additional mobility needs. For those requiring a fully wheelchair-accessible solution, we offer alternative stay-at-home accommodation options that may be more suitable.
