From Bronze to Silver: Our EcoVadis Recertification Journey
We’re delighted to share that Rapid Relocate, as part of the HotelshopUK Group, has successfully achieved Silver status in our latest EcoVadis assessment, marking an important milestone in our sustainability and corporate responsibility journey.
Progressing from Bronze to Silver demonstrates the strides we have made as a business and reflects our ongoing commitment to operating responsibly, ethically and sustainably. While we are proud of this achievement, we see it as part of a wider journey of continuous improvement and long-term positive impact.
What is EcoVadis?
EcoVadis is one of the world’s most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings, assessing organisations across a range of environmental, social and ethical criteria.
Used by businesses globally, the assessment provides an independent evaluation of how effectively organisations manage sustainability risks, opportunities and performance. It helps companies benchmark themselves against recognised best practice while identifying areas for further improvement.
For Rapid Relocate, EcoVadis provides valuable insight into how we are performing as a responsible business and helps guide our ongoing ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) strategy.
What Does the Assessment Cover?
EcoVadis assesses organisations across four key themes:
Environment
This theme evaluates how organisations manage their environmental impact, including areas such as energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, resource management, waste reduction and environmental policies.
Labour & Human Rights
This theme examines how organisations support and protect their people through areas such as working conditions, employee health and safety, diversity and inclusion, training and development, and human rights practices.
Ethics
This area assesses responsible business conduct, including anti-corruption measures, information security, transparency and governance practices.
Sustainable Procurement
This theme focuses on how organisations manage sustainability across their supply chains, including supplier assessments, responsible sourcing, and procurement practices.
The Journey to Silver
Achieving Silver status reflects the progress we have made since our previous assessment and demonstrates our commitment to continually raising standards across the business.
This year, our overall EcoVadis performance improved significantly, moving us from the 72nd percentile to the 90th percentile of all companies assessed. This progression reflects improvements across all four assessment themes and highlights the collective effort made across the business to strengthen our ESG performance.
Particularly pleasing was our performance within the Labour & Human Rights theme, where we achieved full marks against the criteria applicable to our business size. This reflects our continued focus on creating a positive workplace culture, supporting employee wellbeing and maintaining high standards across our people practices.
These improvements demonstrate that sustainability, responsible business practices and continuous improvement are becoming increasingly embedded throughout our organisation. The EcoVadis process encourages us to regularly review policies, strengthen governance, improve reporting and ensure sustainability remains part of everyday decision-making rather than a standalone initiative.
Our Achievements
Over the last three years, the Green team and leadership have played an important role in helping us reduce our environmental impact while encouraging colleagues to make more sustainable choices both in and out of the workplace. Their work demonstrates that meaningful change often comes from a series of small, consistent actions rather than a single initiative.
Some of our achievements include:
-
- Transitioning our electricity supply to 100% renewable energy generated from solar and wind power.
- Working with ethical suppliers and reducing transport emissions through bulk purchasing.
- Reducing paper consumption through the introduction of electronic purchase invoices and increased digital communications.
- Encouraging sustainable travel through car sharing initiatives.
- Transitioning to a fully hybrid and electric company car fleet.
- Extending the lifespan of company vehicles from three years to four years to reduce environmental impact.
- Installing recycling bins, compost bins and soft plastics recycling points across our offices.
- Introducing bird feeders, compost bins, water butts and wildflower planting to support biodiversity.
- Promoting book sharing through dedicated office book shelves.
- Running sustainability awareness campaigns and competitions for employees.
- Sharing regular environmental updates and practical sustainability tips with colleagues.
- Supporting company events and initiatives to ensure environmental considerations remain part of business planning.
The progression from Bronze to Silver reflects the efforts of colleagues across the business, but the Green Team’s passion, commitment and practical actions have played a significant role in helping us move forward.
What This Means for Our Clients and Partners
Increasingly, organisations want to work with suppliers who share their commitment to sustainability, ethical business practices and responsible growth.
Our progression from Bronze to Silver provides independent validation of the work we are doing and demonstrates that ESG considerations are embedded into how we operate.
For our clients and partners, this means confidence that:
-
- Sustainability is actively managed and continually reviewed
- Ethical business practices are demonstrated throughout the organisation
- Environmental considerations form part of our decision-making
- We are committed to supporting our people and communities
- We continually look for opportunities to improve and strengthen our approach
Most importantly, it demonstrates our commitment to creating long-term value while operating responsibly and sustainably.
Part of a Wider Commitment
EcoVadis forms part of a broader framework of certifications, accreditations and initiatives that support our approach to quality, compliance, sustainability and responsible business.
Alongside the work of our Green Team and our wider ESG commitments, the assessment helps us benchmark progress, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure we continue to move in the right direction.
While we are proud to have progressed from Bronze to Silver, our focus remains firmly on the future. We will continue building on this momentum, strengthening our sustainability performance and looking for new ways to create a positive impact for our customers, colleagues, partners and communities.
