Delivering Stability and Continuity of Care After a Flood

When people are forced from their homes unexpectedly, the impact can be overwhelming. The situation becomes even more complex when timing and personal circumstances collide. In this case, severe flooding made a four-bedroom detached home uninhabitable, leaving a couple suddenly displaced and in urgent need of support.

At the same time, the customer’s wife was in hospital undergoing a serious and complex medical procedure. What would already have been a difficult situation quickly became far more challenging. It was clear from the outset that this case required not only speed but also sensitivity, understanding, and careful coordination

Responding With Care From the First Call

We made immediate contact with the policyholder to understand their needs. While alternative accommodation had to be arranged quickly, it was equally important that the solution supported the couple’s well-being and ongoing medical needs.

Our aim was simple but vital: to remove as much additional stress as possible at a time when they already had more than enough to deal with.

Accommodation That Supported Recovery and Reassurance

We secured a fully furnished, two-bedroom apartment with essential ground-floor access and bath facilities. This ensured the accommodation was not only comfortable, but also practical and appropriate for the couple’s physical needs during recovery.

Location was just as important. The apartment was within three miles of their flooded home, allowing the couple to remain within their local health authority area. This continuity of care played a crucial role in reducing disruption and supporting ongoing treatment during an already demanding period.

Support That Continued as Circumstances Changed

Our involvement did not end once the accommodation was in place. As the claim progressed, the couple’s needs evolved. Three months into the claim, additional storage was arranged to reflect those changes, ensuring the accommodation solution continued to work for them without adding unnecessary complexity.

Throughout the process, communication remained consistent and clear. Regular coordination and thoughtful updates helped the couple feel supported and reassured, even as their situation continued to change.
